After having spent the last ten years mostly in coverbands we got together and formed Selfmademan in the autumn of 2000. At the outset it was a five-piece core. Ola Dahlqvist (lead vocals), Patrick Ohlson (guitar and background-vocals), Oskar Ling (keyboards), Christoffer Dahl (drums) and Carsten Andersson (bass).
To begin with, we took off after something like pop/rock meeting singer/songwriter and jazzy blue-eyed soul, having a great time jamming.

We decided to start working on a project and eventually present innovative and contemporary music for the public. A combination of rock, earthy grooves of soul jazz and laid-back, mellow harmonies. Looking to develope our own manner on a fusion of styles the repertoire soon comprised entirely of original compositions.

About six months later, we went into the studio to record a set of songs. Some of these recordings are available at this site and elsewhere on the net.

On the CD Selfmademan uses additional personnel on background-vocals, brass and reeds. By the time we started doing shows we augmented the band with Sara Dahl on background-vocals and Mikael Ekholm on flute. The seven of us presented on this site are now the core. We perform live as ten musicians in all. Two new members joined the band in August. Helga Boström is our new vocalist and Jonas André will replace Oskar Ling.

Our main focus at the time is to perform live and work on our songbook. The music is always moving. And we will continue to record in the studio once and again.
